On January 1, 2018, a new Suffolk County law will go into effect, charging a five-cent fee for plastic and paper carryout bags, at a variety of retail stores. Those in support of the fee believe it will protect the environment. Those against view it as a tax that will hurt local businesses. Would you support Nassau County imposing a five-cent fee on plastic and paper carryout bags?

4 Reasons Ed Mangano Needs to Resign

With so many indictments and convictions of Long Island public officials, residents have become numb. Sadly, it’s all just business as usual, and we’ve come to accept it. Corrupt politicians hurt our communities in many ways, and it’s got to stop. That’s why I’m calling for Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano to resign.

Nassau should have 6-1 matching donations for candidates just like in NYC.

The amount of money it would cost Nassau to finance 6-1 matching funds is peanuts compared to the amount saved from pay to play corruption in the current system. NYC is thriving. Nassau is being held back by a corrupt system and going to a similar system to NYC would encourage investment locally.

Retiring Nassau County Legis. Fran Becker has introduced a bill that would raise the salaries of all county legislators. How can the legislators create and vote on bills that raise their own salaries? Where is the system of checks and balances? No wonder Nassau County has a budget deficit of $160 million. This practice should be abolished.

While not illegal it seems unethical that political donors could recommend who gets the top jobs in government. This whole Hardwick/Melius/Mangano affair doesn't give the people confidence that their best interests are at stake.

Nassau County does not have a coehisive form of government. What we have is an olde English style of Thiefdome. The Sanitation districts answer to no one and are run by "families", the schools are run by Superintendants who rule with iron fists and threats, and you have Towns and Villages who are run by dictators who could care less about the County as a whole. What does the County Executive do? Who is he in charge of besides the Police Department. Certainly not LIPA or any of the the Thiefdomes. NASSAU COUNTY IS A JOKE!!!!
