On January 1, 2018, a new Suffolk County law will go into effect, charging a five-cent fee for plastic and paper carryout bags, at a variety of retail stores. Those in support of the fee believe it will protect the environment. Those against view it as a tax that will hurt local businesses. This thought is something that I proposed during my run for the State Assembly in 2010.

We should limit the State Senate to two (2) five (5) years terms, and the State Assembly to five (5) two (2) year terms. 22 years years in the state government is too long.
