On January 1, 2018, a new Suffolk County law will go into effect, charging a five-cent fee for plastic and paper carryout bags, at a variety of retail stores. Those in support of the fee believe it will protect the environment. Those against view it as a tax that will hurt local businesses. Would you support Nassau County imposing a five-cent fee on plastic and paper carryout bags?

Would save Nassau County several hundred thousand per year in energy costs. No reason to leave computers and peripheral equipment on all night when not in use. AMH

Putting workstations into sleep mode will dramatically cut down on electricity use. Nassau BOCES did this and saved $60,000 annually. Nassau's savings should be a substantial multiple of that.

Why not mandate that all gas stations have emergency generators. It a simple solution which would prevent future nightmares.

Its time LIPA actually update its systems to teh 21 Century. All power line in non flood areas should be under ground and all power lines in flood areas should be above ground but all trees should be banned in their vacinity.
