On January 1, 2018, a new Suffolk County law will go into effect, charging a five-cent fee for plastic and paper carryout bags, at a variety of retail stores. Those in support of the fee believe it will protect the environment. Those against view it as a tax that will hurt local businesses. Nassau should have 6-1 matching donations for candidates just like in NYC.

The amount of money it would cost Nassau to finance 6-1 matching funds is peanuts compared to the amount saved from pay to play corruption in the current system. NYC is thriving. Nassau is being held back by a corrupt system and going to a similar system to NYC would encourage investment locally.
