On July 20th, unless there is an 11th-hour agreement between the MTA and the labor unions, the railroad workers of the LIRR will go on strike. It is estimated that 300,000 daily riders will have to find other means of transportation to get to work. The governor has suggested that this dispute falls under the Railway Labor Act, which is federal law, but New York's Congressional delegation has refused to get involved. Railroad workers have been working without a contract since 2010. Do you think Congress should step in and settle the LIRR labor dispute?
