On January 1, 2018, a new Suffolk County law will go into effect, charging a five-cent fee for plastic and paper carryout bags, at a variety of retail stores. Those in support of the fee believe it will protect the environment. Those against view it as a tax that will hurt local businesses. Would you support Nassau County imposing a five-cent fee on plastic and paper carryout bags?

When I moved to Farmingdale village, the village taxes were a few hundred, but now I pay almost $1400 per year, and for what? They don't provide anything that the township does'nt provide, so what am I paying for? These municipalties are out of control with no oversight by anyone! Don't pay it, then out you go! This isn't peanuts we are talking about....

The Town of Brookhaven is in the process of doing it and it will generate over $2M per year of new revenue. Why not do the same thing in Nassau?

The County Executive's plan to shift the evaluation and financial burden of tax certioraris to school districts to "cut taxes" is a mistruth. In actuality, the people's taxes related to this function will increase as the burden is shifted to school districts having each of the 54 school districts to create their own tax certiorari offices instead of the one office that the County runs. The increase in personnel needed to accomplish this task will increase significantly. We need to make this known to the populous. How do we do that?

When Long Islanders decide as a majority to stop allowing the back room deals and stop turning their heads away from the ongoing corruption in New York, it is then that we can start to rebuild. That is what is needed for the future of our children and their chance for a quality life.
The answer is not Joseph Saladino, The answer is Rich Young.
