Long Island has had several elected officials under federal indictment for corruption, who have refused to step down. Those who feel indicted politicos should keep their jobs argue innocent until proven guilty. Others who believe they should leave office cite difficulties in keeping the public's trust and negotiating contracts in good faith when they are already under suspicion. Should an elected official under federal indictment for corruption be forced to resign?
